Lorde performed on “Saturday Night Live” last weekend, and some people on social media were mocking her dancing during “Green Light”.
Technically, she wasn’t even ‘dancing.’ She was mostly standing still . . . but as she got more and more into the song, she flailed her arms around. It was kind of like how you might ‘dance’ to a song as you’re singing in a car.
Well, Lorde has a message for the haters. In a Facebook post she said, quote, “One day I will do a normal dance, choreographed by a nice person, and I will look more like your other favorite performers . . .
“But we have not yet reached that day.”
Lorde has commented on her eccentric performance style in the past. During an ‘Ask Me Anything’ on Reddit a few years ago, she said, quote, “When I’m onstage, I don’t think about how it looks, I just concentrate on really feeling what I hear.
“But I totally know I look like Gollum when I perform, so it’s cool.”
Lorde DIDN’T look like Gollum while performing “Liability”, her other song on “SNL”. She was seated the whole time for that one . . . wearing a wedding dress that looked like it was made out of dryer sheets.
