After Chris Brown and Soulja Boy announced their decision to settle their differences in the ring, several notable rappers have been following that same approach. First, Kodak Black issued his challenge to Lil Wayne for a bout earlier this week. Now, Meek Mill has joined in on the act by suggesting a $5 million match-up between him and rival Drake.
“I’d break Drizzy the f–k up for $5 mill,” said Meek on Instagram Live this past Thursday night (Jan. 12). He also had a gig lined up for ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj. “And we gonna let Nicki be the ring girl.”
The two rappers have had their fair share of issues in the past. Meek sparked the beef when he called out Drake for having a ghostwriter after they collaborated on “R.I.C.O.” off the Philadelphia rapper’s 2015 album Dreams Worth More Than Money. That led to both sides releasing diss records, most notably Drake’s 2015 track “Back to Back.” During his New Year’s Eve concert in Las Vegas, Drake vowed to retire the track during his live shows.
“If people do the most left field, f–ked up s–t to try and tear you down, you still gotta win no matter what. That’s the whole key about this s–t,” Drake said during his NYE set. “So I’m gonna do this song, and this is the last time I’m ever going to do this song.”
Rapper, Safaree Samuels 9 (another ex-boyfriend of Minaj’s), also chimed in on Meek’s challenge to Drake and insisted that he would serve as a viable replacement for the “6 God.” “Drake don’t got time, but I do,” commented Samuels under the Shade Room post.
