Chance the Rapper Compiled a Playlist to Help Space Aliens ‘Understand Music & Humanity’

Greetings, earthlings; we come in peace! Chance the Rapper shared a playlist on Wednesday (Nov. 11) that he created of his favorite Michael Jackson songs in the event that aliens should ever drop by Earth.

“As you asked, I compiled the list of songs I will play for the aliens to get them to understand music and humanity,” the rapper wrote to kick off the giant Twitter thread of tracks, starting with Jackson’s 1973 single “Music and Me.”

Other tracks by the late King of Pop that made Chance the Rapper’s cut include 1995’s “You Are Not Alone” (from greatest hits HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1), Dangerous-era single “Heal the World” and 1975’s “Dear Michael.” The 22-song playlist also includes plenty of other well-known smash hits by Jackson, from “Man in the Mirror” and “Remember the Time”  to The Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” and “Never Can Say Goodbye”

Meanwhile, Chance the Rapper most recently collaborated with Justin Bieber on “Holy,” the lead single to the pop star’s forthcoming sixth studio album, which will serve as a follow-up to 2020’s Changes. The gospel-infused love song debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 1oo upon its release, giving the rapper his third Top 5 collaboration with his pal, following 2017’s “I’m the One” and 2018’s “No Brainer” — both of which were helmed by DJ Khaled with additional assists from Quavo and, on the former, Lil Wayne.

In the wake of the success of “Holy,” the rapper also teamed up with MadeinTYO and Smino on album track “BET Uncut,” which is featured on the former’s 2020 studio set Never Forgotten.
