Ed Sheeran Announces ‘Bad Habits’ Single: ‘Feels Great to Be Back!’

Ed Sheeran announced the release date for his upcoming single, “Bad Habits,” on Friday morning (June 11), revealing that it will drop on June 25. The song is the Grammy-winning singer’s first official release since his 2019 No. 6 Collaborations Project and he celebrated the occasion by also unveiling the single’s artwork, which finds him dressed a glampire with razor-sharp fangs, bruised eyes and a hot pink suit to match the song title’s font.

“I’ve been working away in the studio over recent months and I can’t wait for you to hear ‘Bad Habits,'” Sheeran said in a statement. “I always aim to push myself and my music in new directions and hopefully you’ll hear that on the new single. Feels great to be back!” He posted a brief snippet of the song on Instagram in which he can be heard crooning “whoooo-oooo” over a spooky backing track.

Sheeran also posted a behind-the-scenes snap in which he’s staring into a mirror admiring his vampire look, checking out his teeth while rocking some long black fingernails, as well as another image of him making a terrified face while chilling on the couch with the caption, “The moment you realise your first solo single in 4 years is coming out in a few weeks.”

The singer, who tends to go off-the-grid between albums, hinted that he was cooking up some fresh tunes recently when he posted a brief clip in which he sings a wordless melody while strumming a guitar as his pal Friends star Courteney Cox plays the tune on piano.

His new persona also showed up in a series of projections in London overnight, including one across the facade of the Tate Modern. Sheeran has promised to perform the new song when he plays live from Ipswich Town’s Portman Road football stadium in Suffolk, England on June 25th for TikTok’s UEFA Euro 2020 show.
