HOW TO SEW A DIY FACE MASK

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, N95 and surgical masks are becoming harder to find, or they are being saved for healthcare workers. Recently, the CDC updated its recommendations about wearing masks in public and explained that cloth masks proved to be beneficial. They say, “In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.”

For anyone interested in DIY, BuzzFeed producer, Erin Phraner, recently made a video showing a straightforward way to make cloth masks at home. They can be made with new or recycled material, elastic, and a sewing machine. They can also be made without a sewing machine if you don’t have one. Watch her tutorial below.
