Katy Perry Is In a Playful Mood With ‘Pokémon’ Tie-In ‘Electric’: Watch

You’ve got the power now! Katy Perry gets her game on with “Electric,” a new tie-in with the Pokémon franchise.

The pop superstar’s new number is the first original song to be released from Pokémon 25: The Album, a star-studded compilation which celebrates 25 years since the creation of the Pokémon universe.

“Electric” sees Perry return to anthemic pop. On it, she sings: “Oh, I can see it, see it/ If you believe it then you can/ There’s no reason that this life can’t be…Electric!.” And in the official music video, which dropped at midnight, she runs amok with Pikachu.

Pokémon, Perry explained in a statement earlier this year, “has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy, to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO.”

Pokémon 25: The Album is due later in 2021 via Capitol Records and also features cuts by J Balvin and Post Malone, who shared his cover of Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You” in February.
