Miley Cyrus & Elton John Are Covering a Metallica Song Together, And ‘Nothing Else Matters’

When you think of hard rock music, do you think of a former Disney Channel star, a gay icon and a renowned classical cellist? Well, Miley Cyrus says you should.

In an interview with UK radio station Capital FM, Cyrus teased an upcoming collaboration she has planned with a few big-name stars, including Sir Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Oh, and the song they’ll be performing together? A cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.”

The star revealed in the interview that part of her upcoming Metallica covers album will feature a version of the band’s 1991 hit single. “I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ featuring Elton John on piano, I’ve got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith; so many all-stars in this band,” she said. “I’m so excited about this collaboration.”

Cyrus continued, saying she understands that the concept of the song may not make sense to some fans — which is why she loves it even more. “I mean, having Elton John and Metallica and me … I love when ingredients don’t quite fit,” she said. “Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together, and you gotta have someone like [the song’s producer Andrew] Watt that will take that risk.”
