SPICE GIRLS ‘SPICE WORLD’ SEQUEL FOR 25TH ANNIVERSARY IN THE WORKS

UK news publication The Sun has reported that four of the five original Spice Girls are on board for filming a sequel to their 1997 film, Spice World, which would release next year.

Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell), Sporty Spice (Melanie Chisholm), Scary Spice (Mel Brown) and Baby Spice (Emma Bunton) are all reportedly on board for the sequel and our pre-teen hearts couldn’t be happier!

“The girls have been talking about how to mark the film’s anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel,” The Sun was told by a film source. “They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward.”

As exciting as the news is, one big piece of the Spice Girl puzzle is missing with Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) not on board… yet.

Beckham sat out the group’s 2019 tour across the UK and Ireland. Her reasoning for skipping the event was to focus on family and her business, but fingers crossed she hops on board for the 25th anniversary celebration.

Ginger Spice, who is currently managing the group is reported to be taking the lead on the project.

“It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously,” the film source shared.

The Spice World anniversary isn’t the only big celebration the girl gang has coming up. The group will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their hit “Wannabe” on July 8.
