Tyler, the Creator Just Wants to Know ‘WUSYANAME’ in New Music Video

Tyler, the Creator is back with the release of an all-new music video for his tune “WUSYANAME,” just one week after the premiere of “Lumberjack.”

The two-minute clip, which debuted Tuesday (June 22), begins with narration from Tyler as he describes a road trip to an undisclosed location. Upon his arrival at what appears to be a country club, Tyler spots a woman who becomes the apple of his eye.

“In California, you spend most of your life in cars, moving, traveling, searching for somewhere to land,” he narrates as the video begins. “I don’t mind tiptoeing across the globe for thrills and flying to Vienna [Austria] to see a show at the Kunsthistorisches Museum or headed south to raise dolphins on jet skis. But this time I ended up in [bleep],lookin’ for this brioche my boy told me about. That’s when I met ‘She.'”

The visual may be a continuation of last week’s music video for “Lumberjack,” in which Tyler receives a manicure with the same mint-green nail polish that he sports in the new “WUSYANAME” (What’s Your Name) music video.

As the new music video progresses, Tyler, the Creator finds himself in awe as he follows the striking woman, rapping, “Aw, you look malnourished/ Let’s get some bread/ Fry the egg yolk and drown it in syrup/ You pick a spot, I pick a tail number and we can be tourists.”

He goes on, “Let’s go to Cannes and watch a couple indie movies that you never heard of/ Listen to bands, groove and we dance/ Disco in France, smell some perfume, head in the wind/ We can switch off.”

Tyler later adds, “Get your passport ’cause we runnin’ off/ We can sit and talk/ You can tell me everything that’s on your chest, baby, get it off.”

And while the song’s ’90s-infused rhythm is melodic and his lyrics are smooth, the “WUSYANAME” music video concludes in a hilarious plot twist: It turns out that Tyler’s crush was totally aloof to his serenade the entire time and was actually walking to deliver a croissant to her date at a nearby table. Yikes.

Tyler announced last week that his new album, Call Me If You Get Lost, will arrive on Friday. Watch the “WUSYANAME” video below.
