Weddings across the globe have been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That includes the big ceremony for Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez. On the former’s appearance on The Tonight Show on Thursday (April 23), the ex-baseball player spoke about their decision to push back their special day.
“We have to go with the flow now. Everything is fluid. Everything has been just on a pause,” Rodriguez told Jimmy Fallon. “We just want to make sure we think safety first to make sure all the little ones are all in a good place.” As per a source close to the couple, the duo were rumored to marry in Italy this summer.
Instead of preparing for the wedding, the two have turned their attention to helping those in need amid the coronavirus crisis. Last week, Lopez performed Barbra Streisand’s hit, “People,” for the “One World: Together at Home” TV special, which was made possible by the entire family. “It was a family effort,” Rodriguez explained. “Our kids are much better at the arts and the camera angles. I never thought our backyard would convert into a concert hall.”
Additionally, Rodriguez said that celebrities have a “debt to be able to give back” to the people and that is just why he and his soon-to-be wife donated 20,000 meals to hotel workers in the Miami area.
